Pinot Noir, Chardonnay

Their vineyards, this achievement reflects an unwavering pursuit of excellence. The isolation of a singular terroir enclave within the Argonne forest, known as 'Chatrice,' is the secret to their precision in aging through oak barrels. This champagne is born from the magnificent 2020 vintage, a year marked by precision, rich creamy texture, and perfect balance.

Pinot Noir, Grenache

The latest rendition of Giraud's NV Blanc de Craie Brut offers up aromas of citrus oil, fresh pear and linden blossom. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, vinous and satiny, with a delicate mousse, ripe but racy acids and a saline finish. Charming and structurally open-knit, it's already drinking well. As usual, this is a blend of Chardonnay from Aÿ and the Montagne de Reims.
Henri Giraud,
Dame Jane Rose NV

Pinot Noir, Chardonnay

The latest release of Giraud's NV Brut Rosé Dame-Jane is showing very well, unfurling from the glass with complex aromas of red plums, cinnamon, orange zest, warm bran and smoke. On the palate, it's full-bodied, broad and textural, with all the house's signature vinosity, displaying superb depth at the core, ripe but racy acids and beautiful balance despite its muscular, textural style, concluding with a sapid finish. This is another success.

Henri Giraud,
Hommage au Pinot Noir NV

Sparkling Wine

-
Pinot Noir
-
The NV Hommage au Pinot Noir is another fabulous wine in this range from Giraud. Rich, ample and creamy, the Hommage is so expressive today. The Hommage is 100% Pinot Noir done in an unusual style that sees eleven months in oak followed by six months in tank, an approach that is much more common for white Burgundy. In fact, I have never seen this élevage in Champagne. No matter, though, it all works. Red plum, kirsch, mint, chamomile and spice all meld together effortlessly. The Hommage is rich and generous, but is also light on its feet. This release is based on 2016, with 40% reserve wines. Dosage is 6 grams per liter. Disgorged: September 21, 2020. The champagne presents a pronounced and brilliant pink hue. The nose offers fresh aromas of fine lees, cherry, and mara des bois strawberries. On the palate, it is fruity and fresh, featuring flavors of white peach, sour cherry, and rose. The finish is clean and salivating, leaving a lasting impression of freshness.

Pale gold hue with subtle amber reflections. Elegant and floral nose, offering hints of spices and dried fruits. The palate is lively and expansive, featuring crisp acidity balanced by fruity notes, leading to a refreshing and enduring finish.
Rémi Leroy,
Blanc de Noirs 2019
$117 $146
-
Sparkling Wine
-
France, Champagne
-
Pinot Noir
-
Leroy's signature Pinot Noir of the eastern Bar-sur-Aubois region shines in the intense, energetic 2019 vintage, bursting as it is with raspberry, baked apricot and maple notes bolstered by a little spicy complexity from its 40% fermentation in oak barrels. There's a real sense of presence and weight here, but accompanied by a little touch of fruit-skin bitters, the vintage's freshening length, and what Leroy believes to be some of the minerality from the Portlandian soils of the area, it's far from heavy. Fine, gastronomic Pinot
Rémi Leroy,
Blanc de Blancs 2019
$127 $158

Sparkling Wine

-
Chardonnay
-
Bright yellow in color, the 2019 Champagne Blanc De Blancs Brut Nature is entirely Chardonnay. A light reductive note on opening blows off to reveal notes of pure yellow apples, honeycomb, crystallized ginger, and lemon candies. The mousse is zesty, and the wine is driving on the palate, with a light bitter citrus tone on the finish and crushed seashell brininess. It has an oceanic feel.

La Borderie,
De Quoi Te Meles-tu Extra Brut NV
-
Sparkling Wine
-
France, Champagne
-
Pinot Noir
-
Luminous and rather dense robe. Subtle and pure nose, notes of smoky limestone, aroma of fresh grapes, apple, cherry. Notes of almond, liquorice, pink grapefruit, fresh blackcurrant, wild strawberry, with more heady notes of honeysuckle, pepper and sweet spices. Contact on the palate is clean and fresh, with creamy, melted effervescence. Pulpy and crunchy fruitiness. Franchise, lamb’s lettuce and lengthens on the palate. Balanced and concentrated, crystalline.
La Borderie,
L'Arpent Oublié NV
$102 $127

Sparkling Wine
-
France, Champagne
-
Pinot Blanc
-
It is made from the Pinot Blanc grape variety. The name "L'Arpent Oublié" translates to "the forgotten acre," and refers to the specific vineyard site where the grapes are grown. The Champagne is known for its floral and fruity aromas, with notes of white flowers, honey, white peach, and a hint of minerality. It is a Brut Nature Champagne, meaning it has not undergone any dosage (added sugar) after the secondary fermentation.
